As the sun sets behind me the sky erupts in beautiful colors in front of me.

Foggy Frosty Spruce

I captured this image at 1:00 in the afternoon close to Lake Louise. The fog had coated all the trees with a beautiful layer of frost. For those of you who live outside of Alaska, notice how low the sun is in the sky. It will get lower yet.

Alpenglow at 11AM

Sun sun comes up late in the northern reaches of Alaska. Galena is one of those places where the arrival of the sun is preceeded with glorious colors.

Blu Morning

The blue hour is the period of time when the sun is still quite a ways over the horizon and we get to see the predominatly blue wavelengths of light.

Sun Kissed Spruce

The clouds broke this afternoon allowing the sun to shine for a couple hours. The temperature only reached 9°F.

Alder and Cottonwoods

We were looking for a way off the river bottom and had to snowmachine through this mess. No one has accessed the cabin from the river in three years giving the alders plenty of time to block the way.
