Aurora at Sheep Mountain
The Aurora is low on the horizon behind Sheep Mountain.
Quiet Aurora
The aurora is low on the horizon during this shot. There are nights that this is all I will see of the northern lights. They still create a dramatic backlight.
Aurora Swirls
Two seconds of exposure was a bit to much but produced a great effect.
Going To Delta
Green Lights
A ten second exposure at f/2.8 with an ISO setting of 800 produced the basis for this image. The pink behind the mountian is the city lights from Palmer. The snow covered mountains are green from the aurora's reflection.
Illumination
The aurora begins to get active. Shimmering and pulsating light illuminates the mountains with a green glow.
Confused Beauty
With lots of flowing bands at once thes image looks like a bunch of cunfusion.
Just a Touch of Color
There is just a hint of Aurora in this photo of the Little Susitna River at the entrance to Hatcher Pass.
Milky Way Aurora
This was the first photo of the night with a pretty weak aurora. So I exposed the photo for 30 seconds and got a touch of Milky way in the shot.
Sky Explosion
The night sky can be calm with a bit of Aurora showing. Then it explodes with rays of light.
